Yes, that’s the latest suggestion for our Holiday Hunger scheme that ee hope to be running this summer. This is in response to Preston City Council’s request to help feed families in the school holidays that may not have access and help that they normally get from school meals and after and before school clubs. 6 weeks is a long time not to have the back up of school meals and clubs that nourish and feed your kids and many families struggle.
And that’s where we come in. Broughton and Ingol are going to be working together as a church community offering a weekly food market andvpacjed lunch service to help tese families that are in need, we will put together a team of people who will work on a rota basis to undertake various jobs. Now that may be anything from collecting food from Fare-share in Preston, manning a stall to help sell produce, buttering bread for butties, handing out packed lunches, washing up and raising money to get us started and we are looking for volunteers to contribute in some way and help out. The more the merrier as it goes, but the more will lead us to less work for the same few each time. And before you telk me that you are too old, can’t cook, aren’t around on a Thursday or a Friday, you ALL have something to offer. It will not solve all ills, we are not here to do that, but we are here to help if we can, and I know we can do just that. So, come on team, help us out, help us extend the hand if help, love and fellowship to our community, serving Christlike those who need us, those here on our doorsrep.
Please, if you have said you can help out, please sign up at the back of church for any jobs and dates you think you can help with, and thank you in advance fir all your help and support.
